demand 用作动词时有两个主要意思：一是表示主观上的“需要”，二是表示客观上的“需要”。
1. demand 表示主观上的“需要”时，其后可以接不定式，但不可接动名词。如：
She demanded to know what was happening. 她需要了解出了什么事情。
He marched in and demanded to see the manager. 他进去需要见经理。
He demanded to be told everything. 他需要把所有都告诉他。
They demanded to be shown the authentic documents. 他们需要出示真实靠谱的文件。
注：既然不可以接动名词，所以根本没有后接动名词用主动表被动的使用方法。
2. demand 表示客观上的“需要”时，其后一般只接名词，既不接不定式，也不接动名词。
Fishing demands patience. 钓鱼需要耐心。
This work demands quick hands. 这件工作需要快手来做。
A lawyer’s work demands skill and concentration. 做律师需要有方法和专心。
She felt the child’s behaviour demanded severe discipline. 她感到那孩子的行为需要严加惩处。
Righting the economy will demand major cuts in expenditure. 恢复经济需要很多削减开支。
